Windows 10 provides the Administrator accounts in order to administrator Windows 10 with extra privileges. The Administrator account can install hardware and software as well as access all files, manage users, operating system configurations, etc. This means not all users can have Administrator privileges which may be a security vulnerability. In this tutorial, we examine how to change the Administrator in Windows 10 operating system. By changing the Administrator a regular user may become an Administrator or an Administrator-level user may change into a regular user.
Change Administrator via Settings Tool
Windows 10 provides the Settings
tool in order to configure different features of the Windows operating system. It is very similar to the Control Panel but easier and simpler to use. The Administrator can be changed by using this Settings Tool easily. First, we open the Settings Tool via the Start Menu.

Then we navigate to the Accounts
in the Settings tool like below.

In the Accounts screen, there is the Family & other users
menu on the left pane. We click to the Famility&other users like below. The accounts are listed in the main panel. We click to the user we want to make Administrator or remove Administrator privileges. The Change account type
button is displayed. Just click on the “Change account type” button.

The “Change account type” screen is like below. In order to make the selected user Administrator select the “Administrator” type. To remove Administrator privileges select the “Standard User”. The last step is clicking to the “OK” button.

Change Administrator via Control Panel
Another way to change the Administrator rights of a user is by using the Control Panel
. The Control Panel is provided from Windows 95 and used by all Windows operating system versions. First, we open the Control Panel via the Start Menu by typing it like below.

In the Control Panel click to the User Accounts
like below.

The Manage Accounts screen lists all user with their information like account type, password protection etc. Click to the user you want to change the user type.

In the User Account screen click to the Change the account type
like below.

The Standard
and Administrator
user types are listed below. Select whatever you need and as the last step click to the Change Account Type
button to make the new user type active.
