Windows 7 operating system provides the Startup Folder
or Startup Application
in order to start an app after reboot and user login. In some cases, this folder can be deleted or removed intentionally or accidentally. In this tutorial, we examine the location of the Startup Folder and how to create it and put the application to start automatically.
Windows 7 Startup Folder Path
By default, the Windows 7 startup folder is located under each user’s home directory. every user has his own Startup Folder. In the following path the USERNAME
should be changed with the current user.
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
For example, if the user name is “ismail” the startup folder path will be like below.
C:\Users\ismail\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
All Users Windows 7 Startup Folder
Wişndows 7 can also provide a startup folder for “All Users”. When this startup folder is used to add an application or script link it will be executed and started for every user in this Windows 7. The path of the All Users Windows 7 Startup Folder path is like below.
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Add Application To Windows 7 Startup Folder
We can put the script or application shortcut into the startup folder by dragging and dropping it. This will enabled this app to start automatically when the user login in his/hers session.
